“She (Natasha) would have a plan on arrival anywhere and would be carving the best out of life and every situation and every person,” Thurman tells the July issue of Harper’s Bazaar U.K., on sale today. “She wasn’t as much a passenger as I am, which made us great companions in life … because every driver needs a passenger … and every passenger needs a driver. So it’s a big loss in my life.”
Richardson’s death from a freak skiing accident earlier this year has inspired Thurman to make sure she lives her life to its fullest. The 39-year-old actress, who was married to and shares two children with actor Ethan Hawke, is currently readying for a London wedding to British tycoon/philanthropist Arki Busson.
“Isn’t life amazing? Isn’t life full of surprises? When it comes to things like marriage, you just never know,” Thurman says. “I find that growing up has been all about realizing that life gets more serious, and that it’s also really important to increase your sense of humor.”
Apparently, for Thurman, it’s also really important to increase the number of houses you own in posh vacation destinations.
“I would buy a country house in virtually every country in the world if I could,” she said (and with Busson’s billions, she probably could!). “I also want a country house in Italy, France, Switzerland; I have aspirations in Mexico …. virtually all coastal regions. I just have this constant curiosity to open a clam in every country and eat the squirming things from every shore.”
Beloved late actress Natasha Richardson remembered a Queens costume designer, a London employee and her half-sister by setting aside a chunk of cash for each in her will — but she left the bulk of her assets to husband Liam Neeson, according to her estate papers.
The London-born actress, who died a few days after a seemingly innocent fall during a March ski vacation in Quebec, would have turned 46 on May 11.
Her will was written in 2005, and Neeson, along with one of the couple’s closest friends, actor Aidan Quinn, are listed as the executors of the estate.
The couple had homes in Manhattan and the Hudson Valley, where Richardson was buried.
The actress, daughter of actors Vanessa Redgrave and Tony Richardson, bequeathed $200,000 to half-sister Katharine Grimond Hess; $50,000 to Josephine Burke, an employee who lives in London; and $10,000 to Queens resident Kevin Mark Harris, who works in television as a costumer.
Actress Sharon Stone fought back tears as she paid tribute to her late friend and “angel” Natasha Richardson on Thursday at a charity AIDS event at the Cannes Film Festival.
British actress and AIDS campaigner Richardson died in March after suffering brain trauma following a skiing accident in Montreal, Canada.
Stone was a close pal of the actress, who was married to actor Liam Neeson, and she made sure to honor the tragic star as she took to the stage for the annual Cinema Against AIDS fundraiser in the south of France, held by nonprofit organization amfAR.
An emotional Stone told the audience, “This year we lost an angel from our amfAR family. It was one of those random events that leaves you in a state of shock and profound grief. In March, the funny, graceful Natasha Richardson was taken from us.
“People say, ‘Oh, she can’t really have been that great or graceful.’ She was. ‘That funny, charming, sweet and elegant.’ She was. She left behind her husband and two stunningly beautiful children and an unfinished mission to help us find a cure for AIDS.”
Richardson’s support for AIDS charity amfAR has been continued by her husband Neeson, who sent a note for Stone to read out at the event, urging everyone to keep up their tireless campaigning.
Stone pledged $50,000 in honor of Richardson, before Annie Lennox took to the stage to perform “Talking to an Angel,” which she dedicated to the late star’s memory, saying: “That was for Natasha.”
Hola!! I just have added a new extremely beautiful photoshoot of Natasha, it’s session #83. Hope you love it as much as I do. It’s one of my favorite photoshoots ever and she looks like an angel!!
An ad featuring a photograph of Natasha Richardson as part of a push to sell ski helmets has been banned by a British advertising watchdog.
The newsletter-type email featured a picture of Richardson and the words: “We regret to inform you that British actress Natasha Richardson has died in hospital this morning, after suffering a head injury in a skiing accident in Mont Tremblant, Canada.”
It added, “We strongly recommend the wearing of ski helmets by children and adults.”
The U.K.’s Advertising Standards Authority ruled the email found at skiwear4less.com was not appropriate and “likely to cause serious offence” to some recipients.
The Ski & Outdoor Warehouse argued the email was part of a newsletter, not an ad. Two recipients of the email filed complaints to the advertising watchdog.
Awarded with an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, Queens University Belfast, at the British Consulate in N.Y.C. on Wednesday, May 6, Liam Neeson took time to pay tribute to his late wife, actress Natasha Richardson. During his acceptance speech, he emphasized the importance of art in helping him gets through the tough time after losing his wife in a skiing accident in March this year.
“Everybody assumes that actors are great public speakers. It’s terrifying. Forgive me for reading it,” the actor began his speech. “(Art) builds from pain, from misery, from a deep-seated hurt, a monument to the human heart that shines like a golden dome among roofs rain-glazed and leaden ….. I think it is a message that a university always gives its students in the end: It’s time to move on, get on with your life. I got on with mine, and I’m still getting on.”
The tribute marked the first time ever that Liam spoke about Natasha in public’s eyes since her death. He was accompanied to the event by sons; Micheal Richard Antonio and Daniel Jack, both of whom are his children with Natasha. Liam himself left Queens University Belfast before graduating.

According to PEOPLE Magazine, Natasha’s organs have been donated at the request of her family.
As the loved ones of Natasha Richardson continue to mourn, a family decision made in the wake of the Tony-winning actress’s sudden death March 18 has brought a measure of comfort: After Richardson was taken off life support at Manhattan’s Lenox Hill Hospital, her family requested that her organs be donated to other patients whose lives they might save.
Organ donation “is very Natasha,” a family friend says in the latest issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday. “She spent so much time fighting the stigma of AIDS; someone like that would naturally donate her organs. At least by donating her organs something good could come out of [the tragedy].”
Richardson, 45, died after falling during a ski lesson at a Canadian resort on March 16. An autopsy performed in New York City showed that a blow to her head had caused a fatal epidural hematoma, bleeding between her brain and her skull.
‘Liam Doing Okay’, In the days since Richardson’s death, her husband of 14 years, actor Liam Neeson, 56, and the couple’s sons Micheal, 13, and Daniel, 12, have shown remarkable public poise in dealing with the tragedy. “Liam is doing okay,” says family friend Blaine Trump. “It takes a while to absorb this. But he says the family needs to move forward. They will take it one step at a time.”
The Irish actor was expected to return to work on the Toronto set of his upcoming drama Chloe, and the boys were headed back to school. “With good friends by their side,” says Trump, “they will get through the tough days ahead.”
I have installed on the site, a new script for Natasha’s Memorial Book where all of you can leave your messages. I also hope you like the new layout remembering her. Natasha Richardson’s family and friends including mother, Vanessa Redgrave, son, Micheal, sister, Joely Richardson, son, Daniel and husband Liam Neeson gathered to mourn their loss at her funeral held at St. Peter’s Lithgow Episcopal Church yesterday (March 22) in Millbrook, in Dutchess County, New York.
The service took place at 2 p.m. with burial in a nearby cemetery. Church Vicar Edward Johnston said the service were only for family and close friends.
Our lovely actress Natasha will be buried in a private family ceremony near her Millbrook Dutchess County home in New York where she and husband Liam Neeson have a second home.
Meanwhile, Natasha’s family is reported to have asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations to be made in her name to the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), for which Natasha was a longtime supporter and had served on its board of trustees since 2006.
So please fans let’s donate in name of her, she would be very happy if we all unite and make a donation!!
I got a tv alert from a fan, American PBS program Charlie Rose will be doing a tribute to our beloved actress Natasha Richardson today (Friday 20th). It will apparently include past interviews of her, so you can’t miss it.
You can also view some screencaps from various interviews she made for the program through the past years here at the gallery!
Tonight at 8 p.m. EST, Broadway theater marquees will be dimmed for one minute to honor and remember the life of British actress and performer Natasha Richardson.
“The Broadway community is shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one of our finest young actresses, Natasha Richardson. Her theatrical lineage is legendary, but her own singular talent shined memorably on any stage she appeared,” said Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of The Broadway League, the trade organization for Broadway theaters and producers.
Natasha, who had an extensive career in film as well as theater, won the Tony Award for her performance of Sally Bowles in the 1998 Broadway revival of “Cabaret.”
“It defies belief that this gifted, brave, tenacious, wonderful woman is gone,” said “Cabaret” director Sam Mendes.
In other stuff, my decision about Adoring Natasha:
I am working and preparing the entire site as a memorial site/tribute. Hopefully it’d be ready in the next days and thanks also to all of you for all the condolences and support to beloved Natasha’s family.
The results have been released by doctor’s working on the case (March 19). After this morning’s examination, the agency in charge has said that the Broadway star passed away as a result of an “epidural hematoma due to blunt impact to the head.” As was expected, medical examiner spokeswoman Ellen Borakove added that the death will be ruled an accident – resulting from her fall while skiing in Canada.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by the Greenwich Village Funeral Home, according to Ellen Borakove, a spokeswoman for the New York City medical examiner’s office.
It has been officially that Alan Nierob, the Los Angeles based publicist for Richardson’s husband Liam Neeson has confirmed the death our lovely Natasha Richardson in a written statement. Natasha has died on Wednesday, March 18 at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.
At approximately 7:00 p.m. EDT, Liam Neeson’s publicist issued this statement to the press:
“Liam Neeson, his sons (Micheal and Daniel), and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha,” the statement said. “They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”
As a personal comment:
I’m truly shocked and it’s really hard for me to write this but I have to and believe me or not I have cried since the accident happened over and over. I feel really devastated with what happened with Natasha, she was a role for me in my life, and now she’s gone, I just can’t believe this. Sorry guys, but I don’t know what else to say, I’m shaking, crying and writing at the same time and to be honest I don’t have idea what’s gonna happen with this site, probably I’ll keep it as a tribute to her and for all her fans.
Anyways, one thing I am pretty sure, I will always remember and ADORE you because you were my talented Natasha Jane Richardson and my beautiful white countess, you’re gonna be always in my heart and thoughts!! You’re now in heaven with your daddy, so rest in peace my lovely actress and God Bless You for all the great moments you gave us. We will love you forever!! Laura Bricio xx
