In the last film she made, Natasha Richardson sobbed as she recorded the words of a woman learning her husband would never return from Everest.

Two months later, the 45-year-old actress died in her own mountain tragedy, leaving the documentary drama, The Wildest Dream, as her final work for the big screen.

The film, telling the story of British explorer George Mallory’s final attempt on Everest in 1924 and how his frozen body was discovered eight decades later, has now been dedicated to the actress. Richardson, elder daughter of Vanessa Redgrave, voiced the part of Mallory’s wife, Ruth.

The Wildest Dream will receive a special Aids charity screening at the BFI Imax in London, attended by Richardson’s family, before its release next month.

Irish actor Liam Neeson, her husband and the project narrator, described it today as “not just a film about mountain climbing” but “a passionate love story between George and Ruth Mallory and an extraordinary tale of one man’s curiosity, courage and conviction”.

After losing her daughter, Natasha Richardson, last year and her brother and sister in the past two months, Vanessa Redgrave says she has drawn strength from memories – and her rekindled romance with actor Franco Nero, four decades after they first fell in love – to weather the grief of the past year.

“I treasure every single moment I spent with them,” the Oscar winner, 73, tells PEOPLE in its upcoming issue, referring to Natasha, who died at 45 in a skiing accident in March 2009; brother Corin, who lost his battle with prostate cancer last month at 70, and sister Lynn, who passed away this month at 67 after a battle with breast cancer.

“I miss them so much,” adds Redgrave. “I glory in what all three gave me, and gave to so very many others as well. All three were devoted to their families and gave us, each and every one, from the youngest to the oldest, very happy times, and much to be merry about.”

Natasha will be turning 47 today!

Stars including Uma Thurman, Bono and Sarah Jessica Parker joined Natasha Richardson’s family in New York on Monday for a memorial service to mark the late actress’ birthday.

Richardson, who would have turned 47 on Tuesday, died last March after a freak skiing accident.

Her loved ones, including widower Liam Neeson, her mother Vanessa Redgrave, and sister Joely Richardson, gathered in the Big Apple on Monday for a remembrance service at the city’s Roundabout Theatre Company.

A host of stars turned out to pay their respects including Parker, her husband Matthew Broderick, and Pulp Fiction star Thurman. The service was especially poignant for Bono – the U2 frontman, who attended with his wife Ali Hewson, turned 50 on the day of the service.

In order to honour Natasha Richardson as shewould have been 47 today… Let’s donate to AMFAR’sfoundation! http://bit.ly/bmY1Mh

British actress Lynn Redgrave,  a member of one of the most famous family of actors, known best for her role in the 1966 movie Georgy Girl. Her son Ben and daughters Pema and Annabel were with her when she died at her home on Sunday, May 2, 2010.

Lynn Redgrave was 67 and had been treated for breast cancer since 2003. Her niece, actress Natasha Richardson and the wife of Liam Neeson, died last year from head injuries sustained in a skiing accident and Redgrave’s brother Corin died last month. The Associated Press had earlier reported Redgrave had died in her Manhattan apartment.

“Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer,” Redgrave’s children said in a statement.

“She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before,” the statement said. “The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time.”

As a personal comment:

This is so sad, another incredible loss in the world of acting. RIP Lynn Redgrave, your now in heaven with your parents, your big brother Corin & sweet niece Natasha. My thoughts and prayers are with the Redgrave-Richardson family.

Natasha will be reunited in film with her husband Liam Neeson in a documentary about the British explorer George Mallory this summer.

The Wildest Dream is a love story which charts how Mallory was torn between his love for his wife Ruth, and his obsession with the “last great adventure”, becoming the first person to climb the highest mountain, Mount Everest.

Ruth Mallory is voiced by Natasha Richardson in her final role before she was killed in a skiing accident in Canada last year. The film is dedicated to Richardson, whose readings of Ruth Mallory’s love letters to her husband have been described as “especially heartfelt and moving”.
