The Rhode Island Film and TV Office and the Newport International Film Festival have announced a special screening of Focus Features’ Evening during the festival on June 9, 2007.Evening, which was filmed in Newport, was directed by Lajos Koltai and stars Claire Danes, Toni Collette, Vanessa Redgrave, Patrick Wilson, Hugh Dancy, Natasha Richardson, Mamie Gummer, Eileen Atkins, Meryl Streep, and Glenn Close. Many members of the star-studded cast are expected to attend the screening at the festival, which will be held June 5-10, 2007.

Both closing night screenings of “Evening” have sold out.

Rhode Island Film and TV Office Director Steven Feinberg made the announcement last night at a preview party for the Newport International Film Festival.

“It is fitting for this major film to be screened right here in Newport,” Feinberg said to more than one hundred supporters who attended the preview party at Colony House in Newport. “It is continued recognition for Rhode Island in a high-profile industry.”

Film Festival Executive Director Laurie Kirby said Evening is an exciting addition to the festival’s line up of more than 100 features, documentaries, and short films from around the globe. This year’s festival will feature premieres and award winners from Sundance, Berlin, Tribeca, and Toronto film festivals.
